A&F Participating in 2019 IIEC

Starting 28 March 2019, the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, the Municipal Federation of Industry and Commerce, and the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone jointly announced the opening the "Startups in Shanghai" International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition(IIEC)

Participating enterprises will include and medium-sized start-ups that meet national standardization standards, are registered in the industrial and commercial sector within the city, and are known for their innovation abilities and high growth potential. The focus is on enterprises engaged in high-tech product research and development, manufacturing, production and services.

Competing enterprises are divided into six sectors, being Electronic Information Technologies, Internet and Mobile Internet, Advanced Manufacturing, Renewable Energy, Energy Saving Technologies, New Materials, and Biomedicine, with A&F participating in the latter category.

The A&F Microbiology Laboratory is a standardized experimental site with a test site of 300 square meters. It has four functional areas: prep area, clean-room, biosafety laboratory and rinsing room. The biosafety laboratory comprises an antimicrobial lab, a bacteria culture and identification lab, as well as a fungal culture and mould-count lab. The A&F Microbiology Laboratory is able to enter the Innovation Competition on account of the following characteristics:

Firstly, most third-party microbiology laboratories focus on food and medical products, testing for contamination. A&F, however, is one of the leading companies that focus on also testing industrial consumer products

Secondly, unlike most third-party microbiology laboratories that solely perform tests according to existing standards and methods. A&F has been designing test methods tailored to specific customer needs and product characteristics.

Thirdly, in light of the advocacy of low-carbon environmental protection, A&F has imposed throughout the company new quality and safety solutions that are greener, more environmentally friendly and more in line with China’s economic development.

Finally, A&F is has shown proof of being commited to provide innovative services for sustainable development in its industry.
